New Democrats came together to rally ahead of fall convention

TORONTO -- The Ontario New Democratic Party held its provincial council meeting over the weekend, to bring members together to review the past election campaign and to chart a course to victory in the next election.

Marit Stiles, Leader of the Ontario NDP, spoke to a packed room about what it will take to win the next election.

“I’m not standing here in front of you because I am satisfied with coming in second. All of us who are in this room are here because we want to change people’s lives; we want to build a stronger Ontario and a future where no one is left behind.

“And to do that — we need to win. We need to form government. That’s the path we’re on. It is going to take every single one of us to win this — and to lead this province forward.”

Over the past few weeks, the Ontario NDP caucus mounted a massive campaign against Doug Ford’s power grab legislation Bill 5. Grassroots members at provincial council passed emergency resolutions to condemn the use of special economic zones and to fight for steel jobs threatened by Donald Trump’s tariffs. The party pledged to work in ridings across Ontario this summer to push back against Ford’s power grab.

New Democrats are set to meet for their bi-annual convention on September 19th in Niagara Falls, where members from across the province will come together to mobilize, train, and organize to win.
