“Kids are paying the price of this government’s education cuts.” MPP Chandra Pasma

OTTAWA – Following the announcement of budget cuts to special education at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, Shadow Minister of Education MPP Chandra Pasma (Ottawa Nepean) has released the following statement:

“Nearly every single school board in the province is spending more on special education than what they are getting from this government, and that is for a system that is shamefully failing kids with disabilities and special needs. The Conservative government has made cut after cut to education funding, with the most vulnerable kids paying the biggest price.

“Once again, we are seeing the OCDSB forced to cut essential supports because of insufficient funding from the Ford government — and it is children with special needs who will lose out. Students and their families are being left behind by a government that does not care about them, while educators are pushed to the limit.

“Instead of wasting money on investigations to tell us what we already know, the Minister of Education should properly fund education and commit to ensuring that every single child receives a quality education in a safe school.”
